Managing Web Services - Resources for Archivists

Plugins

Introduction

Provides inline browser access to 3D and Animation, miscellaneous business and graphics file formats, and audio and video.

Advantage--Opens the Web up to an unlimited number of file formats and applications.

Disadvantages--Requires user to update browser with specific plugin or new version of the plugin. Once a novelty, there are now so many plugins that users are increasingly unwilling to spend the download time, and plugins often conflict with each other in the operation of the browser.
